Hot Platters FAQ

WHAT IS HOT PLATTERS ?

"Hot Platters" began selling vinyl LP's and 45's internationally in the late
1970's after placing a variety of classified ads in various music publications
from around the world...

Several years later, after being a frequent full page advertiser in record
collecting magazines like "Goldmine and Discoveries", my brother /
webmaster Franklin and I started one of the earliest online music
stores on June 12th, 1995 when we launched our website..

Today we offer over 50 categories of not only records but CDs, Tapes,
Videos, Press Kits, Photos, Sheet Music, Music-TV-Film related books
and memorabilia as well...

HOW DO THE AUCTIONS WORK ?

All items in "Hot Platters" auctions have minimum bids. If you bid the
minimum dollar amount for a particular item, you will be notified by
email that you are the winning bidder (usually within a five day period)
providing we do not receive other bids of higher value during this five day
period following your bid submission.

For a better opportunity of being assured a winning bid, you can state
a higher dollar value then the minimum when you submit your bids.
A helpful tip is to bid what a particular item is worth to you.  Bid as high
or low as you wish, but please be prepared to honor ALL of your winning
bids should you be notified.

Successful bidders in the U.S.A. will be notified by email with a list of their
winning bids including postage, handling, and insurance fees. Successful
winning bidders overseas and in Canada will receive a notification for total
amount owed with postage and handling fees for seamail or airmail (surface
and airmail in Canada).

WHEN DOES THE AUCTION END  ?

There is no set closing date for any "Hot Platters" auctions... Items will
remain listed until they are sold, deleted, or updated.

HOW DO THE SET SALES WORK. ?

Set Sale / New Additions list will appear around the first day of every
month on the Hot Platters home page. All the items listed will be
offered for a set sale price on a first come first serve basis.

WHAT DO NUMBERS AT THE TOP OF EACH PAGE MEAN  ?

There is a 3 digit PAGE NUMBER at the top of EACH page in the catalog
(Example : Rock LP's - 101, Classical LP's - Page 121, Comedy LP's -
Page 131, etc). When you bid, please enter the page number for each item
you are interested in,  otherwise, there might be a delay in notifying you
because we will have no way of knowing which type of item you are bidding
on : ( LP, 45, Book,Tape, etc. ).

In the case of the set sale/new additions lists, the numbers at the top of
THOSE pages refers to the month and year  :   Example : 3/04 (March, 2004)..
Please provide us with that date so that we know which list you are referring
to when you want to make a purchase.

CAN I BUY AN ITEM WITHOUT HAVING TO BID. ?

YES. If you prefer not to bid, just let us know which item(s) you would
like to order and we will set sale them providing the items are still available
and we do not receive other "higher" bids in the five day period following
receipt of your email.

CAN I SUBMIT A BID WITHOUT USING YOUR BID FORM. ?

YES. If you are not comfortable using the bid form, simply email us
a list of items you are interested in, page numbers, and your current
address in the event we are unable to contact you by email.

WILL I BE NOTIFIED IF THERE IS A HIGHER BIDDER. ?

We will notify you by email within five days if you are being outbid or if
items you are interested in are no longer available....

WHEN DO YOU UPDATE THE WEBPAGE. ?

With over 50 categories online, we try to update each one frequently
depending on how many new titles we have picked up in that particular
category... The more titles we acquire for a particular category, the more
often that category will be updated and put online in updated auctions
or new set sale lists...

HOW CAN I SEARCH FOR ITEMS. ?

You can locate artists or titles on the home page by entering keywords
in the search field.  For titles with two or more words, you can enter
them in "quotations" for a more accurate search : Example "Bob Dylan",
or "Hey Jude".

You will then get back a listing of all the categories where those artists
or titles appear on our webpage and the page numbers for each.
